GameToAid is an organisation that broadcasts video-gaming marathon events to raise money for charity. We're based in Adelaide, Australia.
A video-gaming marathon is just that—a marathon of video-gaming. Over an extended period of time, we'll stream ourselves playing through widely-loved video games providing entertainment to thousands of viewers from all over the world. Each marathon, we do this in support of a specific charity, and our goal is to raise money and awareness. We try to keep things interesting by conversing with viewers in a chat room, and run various audience interaction activities such as polls and contests.
We were inspired by many gaming marathons—in particular, the amazing efforts of ExtraLives.org and Mario Marathon—to start doing our own gaming fundraiser marathons! We think it's a great way for gamers to give back to the community, and a fun way to raise money and awareness for charity.
The GameToAid Team
Brodie helps with coordination and promotion, and makes sure there are enough people willing to be involved in the marathons. He excels at FPS games, but his best game is by far Back To The Future on NES.
Favourite Game: Back To The Future
George is one of the gamers of GameToAid who also does a bit of commentary during marathons and features in many promotions. He is an all-rounder when it comes to gaming but excels mainly at FPS's and sports games.
Favourite Game: Bomberman Hero
Stephen can design, so really isn't qualified to be playing any games. Despite his passionate love affair with Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Super Mario 64 will always hold a special place in his cold cold heart.
Favourite Game: Super Mario 64
Scott is an avid gamer, he mostly plays PC games of the indie variety but still enjoys many AAA franchises. Some of those franchises include Assassins Creed, Zelda and anything by Valve.
Favourite Game: Super Smash Bros. Series
Tim assists with sourcing games and consoles for marathons, is a regular player, and helps with the commentary. Tim's expertise mainly lies with the platformer, adventure, and Battletoads genres, but is particularly fond of classic JRPG's, namely the Chrono series. His greatest accomplishment in life is making this. Also, Tim is a dickhead.
Favourite Game: Chrono Trigger
Former professional bear wrestling champion, and sometimes referred to as "Australia's next top model," Uncle Sam is a regular player and commentator during GameToAid marathons. Sam's expertise lies in the FPS, Platformer and QWOP genres.
Favourite Game: Banjo Kazooie
Toby, one of the co-founders of GameToAid, retired from coordinating marathons in mid-2013.
